Russian belly-dancer Johara, who is based in Egypt, has been sentenced to one year in jail over the charges of inciting debauchery and immorality.

The court’s ruling is final due to rejecting the appeal submitted by the Russian dancer Eicatrina Andreeva known as “Johara”.

Why?

Johara’s charges date back to February 2018 when many controversial videos of Johara dancing semi-naked in a night club went viral on social media.

After that, Johara got arrested over the above-mentioned charges and was sentenced to one year in prison inciting debauchery and immorality as well as working as a dancer in Egypt without obtaining a permit from the Manpower Ministry.

She also was referred to the Giza Prosecution Office, which released her on a bail of LE 5,000 pending investigations.

She has been held in custody for 3 days, after which she was released on bail, while the investigations continued.

It is noteworthy that many nude videos of Johara with a young man have gone viral on social media platforms.

The controversial short videos appeared that the Russian dancer was making love with Khaled Ahmed, an Egyptian, in the bed, who later claimed that the well-known belly dancer is his wife.

He pointed out that he filmed the video as documenting their marital relationship, adding: “The leak came after his mobile phone was stolen by one of his friends.”

The videos were widely shared among social media users, who made various harsh and comedic comments.

Johara and Ahmed decided to close all their social media accounts, disappearing suddenly from the scene.
