CAIRO, Dec.3 (SEE)- On behalf of the Minister of Antiquities Khaled El-Anany, his assistant Mostafa Amin attended, on 2 December’s morning, the events of the Sixth International Conference titled “Antiquities and Heritage, Authenticity, Risks, and Challenges” at Faculty of Antiquities at Cairo University.

Amongst the attendees were Heba Noah, on behalf of Cairo University’s president; Gomaa Abdel Maksoud Faculty of Antiquities’ Dean at Cairo University; Osama Talaat, the conference’s general rapporteur, undersecretary for postgraduate studies and research affairs.

During his speech, Amin clarified that the conference’s timing totally matches the Ministry’s goal to permanently protect Egypt’s heritage and all monumental sites across the country. He added that the Ministry is keen on participating in such international conferences because it brings to light the challenges that face antiquities and Egyptian heritage.

“At these conferences, problems that threaten monuments’ safety are discussed to protect the authentic part of Egyptian civilization and identity,” said Amin.

“Since its establishment in 1970, Faculty of Antiquities at Cairo University plays a national role in preserving Egypt’s civilization.

“Under the umbrella of the faculty’s cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities, the faculty’s professors are members at the permanent Egyptian Islamic, Coptic and Jewish antiquities’ committees and at different archaeological missions.”

“The Ministry is always keen on cooperation with all universities and entities concerned about developing archaeologists, designers, and museums conservators' talents.

Cooperation is encouraged through training courses, offering scholarships as well as archeological missions in different archaeological fields: archaeological excavations, restoration, maintenance, museum’s work, applying modern technology, risk assessment, and crisis management.”
