Abdel Ghaffar Attends Meeting on WEF Initiative to Promote Local Manufacturing

Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended a meeting on World Economic Forum (WEF) initiative to promote local manufacturing.

The meeting took place during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and was also attended by the Minister of Health of Indonesia, representatives of the World Health Organization, the GAVI Alliance for Vaccines and Serums, officials from the World Bank, the African Finance Bank, the Asian Finance Bank, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CBEI Group.

During the meeting, the challenges of localizing pharmaceutical industries and vaccines were discussed, as well as the cooperation mechanisms between countries in the fields of research, development, and technology transfer. 

Abdel Ghaffar presented the country's capabilities in terms of infrastructure, human resources, and research, which make it a regional center for manufacturing vaccines and medical diagnostics.

The Minister also addressed mechanisms for overcoming obstacles and ensuring the safety of supply chains to secure the needs of countries and ensure fairness in the distribution of vaccines, medical supplies, and pharmaceutical preparations.

He highlighted Egypt's successful experiences in cooperating with leading countries in manufacturing vaccines, transferring manufacturing technology and safe storage, to achieve self-sufficiency, and contributing to providing for other countries' needs.

Abdel Ghaffar also discussed models of fruitful cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as the Ministry's support for cooperation between the local and international private sectors, to achieve the maximum possible benefit for the Egyptian people.
