Four people were killed and 32 others were injured in a tourist bus accident in southeast Brazil, according to local firefighting officials on Sunday.

The accident occurred late Saturday on the BR-116 highway along a stretch known as the "Death Curve" near the Jequitinhonha Valley region.

The tourist bus departed from Caruaru town, in the state of Pernambuco, and was heading south to São Paulo city.

A spokesperson for the local firefighting administration told local media that the four victims were three women and one man.

Among the 32 injured, two are in serious condition and have been transported to the hospital in Teófilo Otoni city, near the accident site.

The Federal Highway Police reported that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a wall and overturned on the road.
