Zamalek's chairman Mortada Mansour said on Tuesday that the Whites' board of directors voted for not playing the CAF Super Cup in Qatar.

The chairman said that the board of directors held a meeting and some of them agreed to play in Qatar, while the other totally refused.

"Playing in Qatar is hell and we do not have an ambassador there. If our state has another opinion, we will respect it, but at this moment I am not going to play the Super Cup there," Mansour concluded.

On October 19, the White Knights' chairman had confirmed that he refused to play the CAF Super Cup against Tunisia’s Esperance in Qatar. “I am ready to engage in a conflict with the CAF,” Mansour said.

“I am ready to play the game versus Tunisia’s Esperance in Tunisia, but I am not going to send my team to play the encounter in Qatar,” he added.

Noteworthy, Zamalek clinched the Confederation Cup for the first time in their history after securing the victory in a dramatic penalty shootout against RS Berkane at Burj Al Arab Stadium (5-3) in May.

The White knights, who were drawn in Group A in the CAF Champions League alongside C.D. Primeiro de Agosto, ZESCO United F.C (Zambia), and TP Mazembe (DR Congo), are set to head to DR Congo to play the first round in the group stage on Saturday, November 30.
