Archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass said that the Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs Exhibition currently being held in Tokyo is the greatest gift Egypt has offered Japan.
This came during the international press conference held in Tokyo to announce the arrival of the exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, on March 8.
During the press conference, Hawass, Ambassador Mohamed Abu Bakr, Egypt's Ambassador to Tokyo, Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Sakuji Yoshimura, Japanese archaeologist, and Ron Tan, the exhibition organizer, spoke in the presence of 200 journalists and more than 20 TV channels.
Hawass spoke about the most important archaeological discoveries in Saqqara and Luxor and about the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which is expected to open in the summer of this year.
At the opening of this exhibition, Hawass will present a replica of his hat to the Governor of Tokyo.
During the conference, Hawass introduced the Japanese singer Sekai who will be performing a huge concert at the foot of the pyramids on April 11. Hawass explained that EgyptAir is the sponsor of this exhibition.
