The World Bank said on Friday that it had approved two loans to Tunisia worth $520 million to help it confront the challenge of food security and balance economic disparities between regions by improving road connectivity.

The value of the first loan amounts to $300 million and comes as a complement to the Food Security Emergency Response Project, which will help confront the effects of four consecutive years of drought in the country, including the difficult grain season in 2023.

The second loan, worth $220 million, aims to reduce economic disparities between regions along the Kasserine-Sidi Bouzid-Sfax axis by developing the infrastructure of this axis and improving access to financing for small and medium enterprises in the region.
