The World Health Organization, WHO, confirmed, Monday, that Egypt is among the countries that have agreed to conduct clinical trials to assess the effectiveness of drugs offered as a treatment for the novel corona virus, known widely as COVID-19.
The organization explained in a press conference, held remotely, that the epidemiological situation in Egypt indicates the strength of the general response to recovery, and that 90% of the corona virus infection cases are between the ages of 20 and 80 years, warning against laxity during the coming weeks in monitoring and quarantine systems.
The WHO said that Egypt's preparedness in several scenarios would keep it away from the repetition of the Italian scene and make it able to draw its own epidemiological curve for itself.
The world organization stressed that the low rates of the COVID-19 infection are contingent on the commitment of precautionary measures nationwide, society and health facilities.
Moreover, it appealed to citizens to urgently seek health care if any symptoms are felt, because this facilitates the containment of the disease, noting that the world is still in the stage of exploring the virus and learning its patterns.
In this regard, the WHO emphasized that the commitment of citizens to their homes and not going out except for necessity would reduce pressure on the health system in the African country.
Thus, it expected that the journey to reach an anti-virus vaccination would extend for several months.
In another regard, the World Health Organization denied the existence of scientific evidence of what is said about the creation of the novel corona virus, and also touched on the Hanta virus in China, stressing that it is neither new nor transmissible between people.
It's noteworthy that the Egyptian armed forces announced, on Monday, that they will provide medical devices and supplies to confront the novel corona virus, in the framework of taking all precautionary measures to confront the threat of the spread of the virus.
