WhatsApp is reportedly developing the ability to transcribe voice notes in order to make it easier for users to read voice notes if they couldn’t listen to them.

WABetaInfo revealed that they found this feature back in September 2021 when WhatsApp first began working on it, but the development was interrupted for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS (23.3.0.73) pointed out that WhatsApp resumed its work on it once again.

These transcriptions are always carried out locally on the device by downloading relevant language packs and are never shared with WhatsApp or Apple so you’re still the only that can listen to the content of your voice notes. However, the feature may only work on recent versions of iOS, according to the report.

The platform is also launching several new features to its status, allowing users to post disappearing pictures and other media.

The new features will enable you to react to people’s posts with an emoji, limit who can see your status, and post voice messages.

According to an announcement post, the status emoji reactions work similarly to how they do on Instagram.
