Western Countries Threaten to Impose Unprecedented Sanctions on Russia due to Ukraine

Britain declared that the leaders of Western countries, the European Union (EU), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) have agreed to impose an “unprecedented package” of sanctions on Russia in the event of an escalation over Ukraine.

 On Monday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office following a virtual meeting with US President Joe Biden and leaders of the European Union, NATO, and leaders of several Western countries, , said that “the leaders of the United States of America (USA) and EU unanimously agreed that if the Russian incursion into Ukraine continues, allies must take further sanctioning measures, including an unprecedented package of sanctions.”

According to the statement, he , the leaders decided to “continue to coordinate any actions” to be taken in response to Russia.

The leaders of Britain, the United States, Italy, Poland, France, and Germany, and the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, as well as the Secretary-General of NATO, participated in the meeting.

It is noteworthy that Russia has repeatedly rejected Western accusations about the alleged preparation of a military attack on Ukraine, and denied the existence of such plans.

US President Joe Biden announced, after meeting with European leaders, Monday evening, that there is “total unanimity” among Western allies on the Ukraine crisis.

 

The White House said that Biden held virtual talks that lasted more than an hour with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Poland, the presidents of the European Commission and the European Council, and the Secretary-General of NATO.

“I had a very, very good meeting, complete unanimity with the European leaders,” Biden stated, during a news conference after the talks.
