Egyptian rapper Wegz unexpectedly dropped his new studio album "Gadwal El Darb" on Tuesday.
"Gadwal El Darb" features 7 tracks, including "TNKR.," which its music video was released six days ago on YouTube.
The songs are less than 3 minutes long, which sparked wide interaction among the audience. Some praised the new experience, while others were puzzled why the songs were shorter compared to his previous music.
Wegz previously spoke about his great enthusiasm for the album, stressing that he put a lot of effort into it to come out in the best possible way.
He also revealed his desire to collaborate with Ahmed Saad in a duet and noted the collaboration would be a strong step in his artistic career.
Ahmed Ali, known as “Wegz,” is one of the distinguished rappers in Egypt and the Arab world.
He began his music career in 2017 by releasing a few tracks including “Batalo Fake” featuring Hesham Raptor, and “Barbeque”.
The rapper has also collaborated with several musicians such as Molotof, DJ Totti, L5VAV, Fishawy, and Savage Plug. His song “ElBakht” was Egypt's and the region's top-streamed song, followed by “B3oda Ya Belady” and “Keify Keda,” coming in fourth and tenth in Egypt, respectively.
"ElBakht" was also the most streamed Arabic song on Anghami in 2022, with 45 million plays across 11 MENA countries, breaking the record for the highest number of streams ever recorded in a single year.
In 2022, the rapper was named Spotify’s most-streamed Arab artist in MENA and Egypt's most-streamed artist for the third year in a row.
