Washington, D.C. - Sabrina Singh, Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon), unveiled a new $600 million military aid package for Ukraine today. The comprehensive aid encompasses ammunition and equipment aimed to boost Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
In her press briefing, Singh stated, "Today, the Department announced a fresh security assistance package through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, targeting Ukraine's battlefield requirements. This $600 million package includes gear to enhance Ukrainian air defenses, artillery ammunition, and other capabilities."
Per the spokesperson's outline, the package consists of equipment to augment and integrate Ukraine's air defense systems, additional ammo for the "HIMARS" rocket system, 105mm artillery shells, electronic warfare equipment, ordnance for barrier removal, and mine-clearance tools.
Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a visit to Kyiv, proclaimed that the U.S. would provide Ukraine with an additional $1 billion in assistance, including $665 million earmarked for military needs. In a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart on Wednesday, Blinken affirmed, "We'll continue backing Ukraine, and today we're declaring a new $1 billion aid, which comprises $665 million in new military and civil security assistance."
In another development, the Pentagon disclosed the transfer of depleted uranium shells for "Abrams" tanks to Ukraine.
