Warner Bros. delayed on Monday the release of “Dune” and “The Batman” movies, in a new setback for the entertainment industry hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Dune”, a sci-fi movie directed by Canadian director Dennis Villeneuve, is now set to be released in October 2021, instead of December.
Meanwhile, the release of “The Batman”, starring Robert Pattinson, is now scheduled to open in the spring of 2022, instead of October 2021.
“The Batman” production was shut down last month after a crew member – widely reported to be Pattinson – tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Warner Bros. never confirmed or denied reports about Pattinson’s diagnosis.
Other significant shifts include sci-fi thriller “Matrix 4”, starring Keanu Reeves, had been set to open on April 1, 2022, and is now debuting on Dec. 22, 2021.
The studio also plans to release two yet-to-be-announced movies on June 3, 2022, and Aug. 5, 2022.
Furthermore, “The Flash”, starring Ezra Miller, moved from its June 3, 2022 slot to Nov. 4, 2022, while “Shazam 2” will open on June 2, 2023, instead of Nov. 4, 2022.
“Wonder Woman 1984” is still set to open on Dec. 25, 2020, along with Pixar’s “Soul,” the Gal Gadot-led superhero sequel.
