Volleyball: Egypt Suffer 3rd Defeat in World Championship

The Egyptian volleyball national team suffered their third defeat in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship from Russia 3-1 on Sunday.

The Russian team ended the first set in a 25-19 victory before the Pharaohs revived their hopes in the game after securing a 25-21 win in the second set.

The Russian team confirmed their win by pulling off the victory in the third set with 25-19 and the fourth one with 25-21. The Pharaohs now rank sixth with only seven points after five rounds.

This is the third defeat for the Egyptian team in the tournament as they were beaten by Brazil on Friday 1-3, and Canada on Saturday 3-2.

The Egyptian Volleyball National Team

The Egyptian team made an ideal start to their campaign in the tournament by smashing Australia 3-1 in the opening game. They resumed their illustrious start by defeating the hosts Iran 3-1.

They are set to resume their adventure in the tournament against Italy on Wednesday, October 9 at 5:30 am (CLT).

The Pharaohs are taking part in this tournament alongside eleven teams; hosts Japan, holders Poland, Tunisia, Iran, Australia, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Argentina, the US, and Canada. All teams will face each other, and whoever collects the biggest number of points will be the champions.

Egypt’s last participation in that tournament was in 2015 in Japan, where he took the tenth position. The best appearance for the Pharaohs was in 1985 World Championship, held in Japan where they ranked eighth.

Egypt Vs. Italy, on Wednesday, October 9 at 5:30 am (CLT)

Egypt Vs. Poland on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 am (CLT)

Egypt Vs. Japan on Friday, October 11 at 12:30 pm (CLT)

Egypt Vs. Tunisia on Sunday, October 13 at 10:00 am (CLT)

Egypt Vs. Argentina on Monday, October 14 at 07:00 am (CLT)

Egypt Vs. United States on Tuesday, October 15 at 4:00 am (CLT)
