Volleyball: Argentina Beat Egypt in World Championship 3-1

Argentina's handball national team defeated the Egyptian team in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship on Monday 3-1.

The Pharaohs had gone ahead in the first set with a 27-25 victory before the Argentinian team equalized in the second set with a 25-17 score.

The Argentinian team sealed the triumph by securing the victory in the third and fourth sets with 25-22, and 25-17 scores respectively.

Argentina now ranks fifth with sixteen points, while the Pharaohs remain in the tenth spot with eight points. The Egyptian team are set to play against the United States on Tuesday, October 15 at 4:00 am (CLT) in the last round of the tournament, currently held in Japan.

Brazil now tops the championship’s table, followed by Poland (2nd), USA (3rd), Japan (4th), Argentina (5th), Italy (6th), Russia (7th), Iran (8th), and Canada (9th). While the Pharaohs came in the tenth position with eight points.

This is the eighth defeat for the Pharaohs, in the tournament as they were beaten by Brazil on Friday 1-3, Canada on Saturday 3-2, and Russia on Sunday 3-1, Italy, Poland, Japan, Tunisia, and Argentina.

The Pharaohs are taking part in this tournament alongside eleven teams; hosts Japan, holders Poland, Tunisia, Iran, Australia, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Argentina, the US, and Canada. All teams will face each other, and whoever collects the biggest number of points will be the champions.

Egypt’s last participation in that tournament was in 2015 in Japan, where the Egyptian team took the tenth position. The best appearance for the Pharaohs was in 1985 World Championship, held in Japan where they ranked eighth.
