On Thursday several parts of Cairo and Giza were hit by a heavy and strong sandstorm, followed by rain, in addition to the heatwave.
Many trees fell down, and their branches were wrecked due to the wind in different areas of Cairo.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority advised citizens to drink enough water and wear maxi cotton clothes due to the heat.
EMA added that the current wave of bad weather could be related to the ongoing spring winds, known in Egypt as Khamasin storms.
Regardless of the heat, Cairo is expected to see some showers throughout the upcoming days.
