The United States of America on Thursday imposed sanctions on a Slovakian national Ashot Mkrtychev, over arms-related activities between North Korea and Russia.

The official website of the US State Department announced that This is the first designation in the DPRK sanctions program in response to Russia's attempt to secure weapons from the DPRK.

Makrytchev worked with North Korean officials in an attempt to obtain more than two dozen different types of weapons and ammunition to Russia in exchange for items ranging from commercial aircraft to raw materials and goods to be sent to North Korea. He also confirmed Russia's readiness to receive military equipment from North Korea.

This action sends a clear message that the United States will target those who provide support to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
