US Posts Rare Warning about Saudi's Capital

Hours ago, the US Embassy in Saudi capital Riyadh just posted a rare alert, warning from possible missiles or drones that may head toward the Saudi capital.

The warning came about an hour after Saudi Arabia reported it had intercepted and destroyed drones laden with explosives launched by Yemen’s Shiite Houthi rebels against targets in the south.

According to Bloomberg, the embassy hasn’t routinely issued such alerts for rebel attacks on the kingdom.

The Iranian-backed Houthis had frequently fired missiles and drones at targets including Riyadh since a Saudi-led coalition began fighting the group in 2015 to restore Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

The warning, posted on the embassy website, urged American citizens to stay alert and immediately take necessary precautions.
