Following the passage of a series of laws in the Knesset ( Israel’s parliament), some of which give status to the racial superiority of the Jews, and one of which abolishes the law that prevents racists from running for Knesset membership, the circle of opposition to it and to the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu is widening.

It was attacked by former Minister of Justice Dan Meridor of the Likud party, and 78 retired judges in Israel, and leaders of American Jews joined in opposing it.

In Tel Aviv, a recent meeting was revealed at the Israeli embassy in Washington, during which officials of Jewish organizations in the United States of America (USA) warned that racist and extremist steps being implemented by the next Israeli government, headed by Netanyahu, would greatly harm American Jewish support for Israel.

According to six different sources who attended the meeting, including a senior Israeli official, the meeting showed the extent of the major Jewish organizations in the United States' fear of the rift that might occur with Israel as a result of the new Israeli government's policy towards Jews in the world and democratic values.
