A Republican-led committee in the United States House of Representatives has released more than 33,000 pages of documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, reigniting calls for transparency in one of the most notorious criminal cases in recent American history.

The House Oversight Committee uploaded the material on Tuesday after receiving it from the Justice Department under subpoena.

Committee Chairman James Comer said the release aimed to ensure full public access, promising that the process would continue until all available files are made accessible online.

The documents, which form the first batch of records involving Epstein and his long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell, reportedly include at least eight videos of police interviews with victims dating back to 2005 and 2006. The committee stated that further files are expected, with sensitive material being redacted to safeguard victim identities.

Democrats criticized the move, noting that most of the documents had already been made public. Representative Robert Garcia, the Oversight Committee’s top Democrat, argued that the release did little to advance justice for survivors and accused Republicans of politicizing the process.

Epstein, a wealthy financier with far-reaching connections, was charged with operating a sex trafficking network that preyed on underage girls. He died in 2019 while awaiting trial in a New York prison, a death officially ruled a suicide but one that has fueled widespread conspiracy theories.

The disclosure places fresh scrutiny on former President Donald Trump, who had ties to Epstein and pledged during his campaign to release the case files.

Critics within and beyond his own party have intensified demands for the full, unredacted records, accusing his administration of shielding influential figures implicated in the scandal.
