A U.S. official has reported that American forces in Syria were targeted by a drone attack, although initial reports indicate that no injuries occurred.

This attack marks the second assault on U.S. forces in the Middle East in recent days and comes amid rising tensions and potential for further attacks.

The official, who requested anonymity, stated, "Initial reports do not indicate any injuries, but medical evaluations are underway," adding that damage assessments are currently being conducted.

The attack took place at a military base housing U.S. and coalition forces in the Rumelan area, northeastern Syria.

Earlier this week, five U.S. service members were injured when two Katyusha rockets were fired at the Ain al-Assad Airbase in western Iraq. The Pentagon attributed this attack to Iran-backed proxies.

The United States currently has 900 troops stationed in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq, tasked with advising and assisting local forces to prevent the resurgence of ISIS, which captured large areas of Iraq and Syria in 2014 before being largely defeated.
