Indonesia announced that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the G20 summit of major global economies, which the country will host this year.
After inspecting preparations for the November 15-16 summit, Indonesian President Joko Widodo told reporters in Bali on Tuesday that the two leaders are among 17 leaders of countries who have confirmed their attendance.
Indonesia, which holds the G20 presidency for the first time, is pressing for all countries to attend to raise its international profile amid rising geopolitical tensions and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Widodo said Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had said they would "come if the situation permits".
