The United States has approved a potential $151.8 million military sale to Israel that includes bomb munitions and related support, the State Department announced Friday.
The department explained that the decision was made under emergency authority, allowing the sale to proceed without a formal review by Congress.
According to the statement, Israel requested to purchase 12,000 BLU-110A/B general-purpose bomb bodies, each weighing about 1,000 pounds.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio determined that an emergency required the immediate approval of the deal.
The announcement comes as the United States and Israel continue military operations against Iran, heightening tensions across the Middle East.
