The United States announced, on Monday, the establishment of a coalition of 10 countries to maintain the stability and security of the trade in the Red Sea, especially after the attacks of the Houthi.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement: “This is an international challenge that demands collective action," adding: “Therefore today I am announcing the establishment of Operation Prosperity Guardian, an important new multinational security initiative.”

“Countries that seek to uphold the foundational principle of freedom of navigation must come together to tackle the challenge posed by this non-state actor."

The United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain are expected to join the coalition, Austin highlighted.

Some of the countries will conduct joint missions, and others will cooperate in the field of intelligence.

Austin pointed out also that the coalition will include more countries but they prefer to be unnamed.
