The Biden administration decided to provide Palestine with $15 million dollars aid for competing for COVID-19 in Gaza and West Bank, the US Department of State announced on Thursday.
This aid will be provided by the US Agency for International Development to the Catholic Relief Services to support the medical and social organizations in Palestine, alongside contributing to solving the crisis of food security.
In the same context, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Ambassador to the United Nations commented on the decision saying: “This urgent, necessary aid is one piece of our renewed commitment to the Palestinian people. The aid will help Palestinians in dire need, which will bring more stability and security to both Israelis and Palestinians alike."
Last Sunday, the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has kicked off in the West Bank. The first stage of the campaign included the elders over 75 years old, medical staff members, and people who suffer from cancer and kidney-failure diseases.
