UNICEF has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the Sudanese crisis on children and families in close coordination with the Government of Egypt, the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), and development partners, by providing and delivering immediate humanitarian services to arrivals.

The relief services include potable water, critical health care, vaccines, access to portable toilets, and sanitation.

In addition to, child protection and psychosocial support.

In a video message, UNICEF Representative in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins also noted that thousands of families and their children are crossing the borders into Egypt as they flee the conflict in Sudan.

He added that they are committed to working with ERC to ensure that every child gets what he or she needs.

On Monday, Egypt said that 40,000 Sudanese had crossed its border. The United Nations warned that more than 800,000 may flee Sudan, which has a population of 46 million, if fighting continues.

Hundreds of people have been killed and thousands wounded since fighting broke out between the Sudanese army and paramilitary forces on April 15.
