Stephane Dujarric, the chief spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stated that Taiwan is considered a province of China according to the United Nations.
Dujarric made these remarks during a regular press briefing, mentioning that the UN's position on Taiwan is based on a General Assembly resolution from 1971.
This resolution, known as Resolution 2758, was adopted during the 26th Session of the UN General Assembly on October 25, 1971.
It received overwhelming support and decided to recognize the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate representative of China to the United Nations, restoring all its rights to China.
