The United Nations has reported that the ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths and injuries of nearly 38,000 Palestinian children, highlighting the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged region.
In its latest report, the UN stated that the relentless bombardment and clashes have severely impacted children, leaving them physically and psychologically scarred.
Many of these children have lost their lives or suffered critical injuries due to attacks on densely populated residential areas, as well as schools and hospitals that were meant to serve as safe havens.
The UN expressed grave concern over the continued violations of international humanitarian law, emphasizing the urgent need to protect civilians, especially children, from the horrors of war.
It called on all parties to immediately commit to a ceasefire and open humanitarian corridors to deliver essential aid to the affected population.
The UN’s humanitarian coordinator stated, “Children in Gaza are bearing an unbearable burden from this conflict,” stressing the urgent need for psychological and social support for survivors of these tragedies.
This announcement comes as Gaza faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with residents enduring severe shortages of food, medical supplies, and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
The UN renewed its call for the international community to intervene urgently to de-escalate the situation and provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, warning that the continuation of the conflict will lead to further humanitarian disasters, with children paying the heaviest price.
