The United Nations has warned of the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Sudan, emphasizing the stark disparity between areas that have witnessed a decrease in violence and limited improvement in aid access, and those still suffering from siege and armed conflict, which has exacerbated hunger.
The UN Information Centre stated that the latest analysis by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Famine Review Panel confirmed famine in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, and Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, due to the insufficient delivery of food and medical care to the population for months.
