United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed the organization's steadfast commitment to international law and humanitarian principles, undeterred by any assaults on its values. During a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Guterres highlighted the UN's ongoing support for the Palestinian people.

Guterres emphasized that the UN's operations are founded on these core principles, which it diligently upholds. He addressed concerns regarding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), noting the potential for any institution to face challenges. An investigation was conducted to examine UNRWA's involvement in events on October 7th, with a request for a thorough analysis and inquiry into the matter.

The Secretary-General acknowledged that while no institution is perfect, efforts are underway to enhance UNRWA's capability to fulfill its role in assisting the Palestinian community. This statement underscores the UN's commitment to supporting Palestinian rights and welfare amid global scrutiny and challenges.
