The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that more than 3,000 people have been killed in Lebanon and more than 13,000 others have been wounded so far, far exceeding the number of victims recorded in the 2006 war, due to intensive Israeli air strikes and evacuation orders.
OCHA said in a press release reported by the United Nations Information Center today, Thursday, that the number of deaths recorded in Lebanon is 58 percent higher than the armed conflict that lasted 34 days about 18 years ago.
OCHA added that about 1.3 million people have been displaced, either within the country or across its borders to neighboring countries.
