On Friday, Ukrainian authorities announced the evacuation of approximately 20,000 people from the Sumy region in northern Ukraine, which borders Russia's Kursk region.
This decision comes in response to escalating military activity and to protect civilians from potential enemy fire.
The Ukrainian police, via Telegram, emphasized the necessity of these evacuations to safeguard residents from conflict-related dangers.
Emergency services are actively involved in the evacuation process to ensure a smooth transition for those affected.
Earlier the same day, the Ukrainian military reported a successful strike on a Russian military airbase located in the Lipetsk region, nearly 300 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
This area has recently been subjected to drone attacks. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the previous night saw Ukrainian defense forces target the Lipetsk base, hitting munitions warehouses with precision-guided bombs and causing significant explosions and a large fire.
