British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and strengthen cooperation to ensure security and stability in the Middle East.

This came during a phone call between Prime Minister Starmer and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as announced in a statement from the British government. The two leaders discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues.

The United Kingdom commended Qatar’s role in mediating a ceasefire in the Middle East and its ongoing efforts to secure the release of all hostages.

The conversation began with a reference to the Qatari Emir’s upcoming visit to the United Kingdom in December, which will be his first official visit during Starmer’s term as Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Starmer expressed his welcome to the Emir in London, highlighting the importance of this visit in strengthening bilateral relations.
