Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, announced that he accompanied the President of Religious Affairs of Türkiye, Prof. Ali Erbaş, during an official visit to Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo today. The visit included performing the Asr (afternoon) prayer and meeting with Al-Azhar officials.
During the visit, Prof. Erbaş was briefed by the mosque’s director on Al-Azhar’s religious education programs and engaged in discussions with attendees and scholars.
Prof. Erbaş emphasized Al-Azhar’s historic and ongoing role as a leading Islamic institution, noting that it has trained many renowned Turkish religious scholars throughout the years. He also highlighted the deep respect and admiration held for Al-Azhar in Türkiye.
The visit reflects the enduring religious and cultural ties between Egypt and Türkiye, with both nations recognizing the importance of scholarly and interfaith dialogue in the Muslim world.
