On Tuesday, the Turkish Parliament will vote on Sweden's bid to join NATO after more than a year of negotiations between Europe, the US, and Turkey around approving the joining of Sweden to the defense alliance, CNN Turk reported.
Turkey's ratification will leave Hungary as the final country that would hold back the membership of Sweden.
Finland became the 31st member of NATO last April, however, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan objected to the membership of Sweden, justifying that Sweden supports some groups that would threaten the security of Turkey.
After that Erdogan made some new demands, including a request for Washington to provide Turkey with a new batch of F-16 fighter jets which was approved by the US.
Last December, the Turkish Parliament committee approved Sweden's bid to join NATO.
The latest step was the final one before submitting the issue to be approved by the full assembly.
