Turkey’s Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, underscored the significant presence of Turkish defense companies at the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) 2025, praising the event’s scale and regional importance. The expo, inaugurated by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, saw an unprecedented participation of 80 Turkish companies—placing Turkey as the largest international contributor to the exhibition.
According to Ambassador Şen, this record turnout reflects both the strength of Türkiye’s defense sector and its rising interest in the Egyptian and regional markets. He noted that no other participating country matched the number of Turkish exhibitors, calling it “a clear indication of the industry’s confidence and expanding capabilities.”
The ambassador highlighted the strategic value Turkish companies place on EDEX, describing the fair as one of the most prestigious defense exhibitions internationally. Their strong participation, he added, shows a growing desire to deepen regional partnerships and expand market access across the Middle East and Africa.
During his tour of the exhibition, Ambassador Şen visited several Turkish stands and met with company representatives. One notable stop was the pavilion of ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading defense electronics company and one of the sector’s most prominent global players. He held a detailed review meeting with ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol and his accompanying delegation.
Ambassador Şen emphasized that Akyol’s personal participation in EDEX demonstrates the high value ASELSAN places on the Egyptian market. With over fifty years of expertise, ASELSAN is recognized internationally for its advanced technologies across a broad spectrum of military and civilian fields. These include air defense systems, radar, electronic warfare, electro-optics, avionics, guidance technologies, land and naval systems, underwater platforms, communications, satellite solutions, and command-and-control systems. Beyond defense, the company continues to expand into transportation, energy, and healthcare technologies.
The ambassador concluded that Türkiye’s strong footprint at EDEX 2025 signals a new phase of technical collaboration and market integration between Turkish defense industries and regional partners, with Egypt emerging as a central hub for future cooperation.
