Turkey has strongly condemned the unwarranted violence carried out by Israel against journalists, reporters, and news organizations covering events in Palestine.

The Head of the Communications Department at the Turkish Presidency, Fahrettin Altun, expressed deep concern and sorrow over the acts of violence against journalists on the ground, some of whom lost their lives in the pursuit of truth.

Altun stated on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter), "We are greatly concerned and deeply saddened by the acts of violence against reporters, journalists, and news organizations on the ground, some of whom have lost their lives while seeking the truth. We strongly oppose attacks and massacres against civilians, including our colleagues."

He added that there is no justification for targeting journalists in a cynical attempt to distort the truth and hide facts on the ground.

Responsible and ethical journalism can serve peace by revealing facts that are hidden from the general public, according to Altun.

He noted that the information war in social media continues to pose a threat to our access to accurate information, with organized groups constantly conducting disinformation campaigns to distort or fabricate reality, adding that at such a critical time, all media institutions and reporters have a duty to convey confirmed information only.

He urged all media institutions and reporters to pay more attention to disinformation campaigns and to remain vigilant against those who seek to serve their warlike objectives by manipulating global audiences.

Altun concluded by highlighting that we live in the age of information, which has unleashed tremendous potential for humanity.

However, it has also brought highly dangerous methods of destroying the truth, employed by malicious actors. It is imperative that we stand together for the truth and for peace.
