The election campaign for the Republican presidential candidate in the US, Donald Trump, announced on Saturday that it raised $15 million in March, a significant increase from the previous month.

Trump continues to outpace Democratic President Joe Biden in fundraising as they prepare to face off in the presidential elections scheduled for November 5th.

It was not immediately clear from his financial disclosure filed with the Federal Election Commission whether Trump had any fundraising edge.

Biden is also expected to file a report on the financial status of his campaign for March.

Earlier, Trump had announced that he raised nearly $11 million in February.

On the other hand, Trump canceled a campaign rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday at the last minute due to an approaching storm.

However, Trump told the crowd gathered for this event that he would hold another rally later instead of this canceled event.

Trump asked the crowd to leave immediately due to safety concerns after lightning appeared at the rally site.
