Russian "Khokhloma" Performs Marvelous Concert at Russian House Theater

To mark the Egyptian-Russian year, the Russian folk band Khokhloma gave a marvelous concert this week at the Tchaikovsky Theater, located at the Russian House in Cairo.

The ceremony was attended by a large delegation of the Russian Ministry of Culture, who is currently on a visit to Egypt, alongside Murad Gatin, director of the Russian cultural centers in Egypt, Pavel Kedisuk, director of the Russian House in Alexandria, Dr. Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities, the renowned poet Shawky Hegab, Dr. Amal Gamal Suleiman, former undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and artist Hassan Wasfi, head of the Syndicate of Fine Artists in Alexandria city.

During the ceremony, Mourad Gatin indicated that the strong Egyptian participation and the great public turnout at the ceremony reflect the importance of Russian art to the Egyptian people and their constant passion to learn more about Russian culture, stressing that art is one of the main soft power tools that reshape the Egyptian-Russian bilateral relations and also contribute to their cultural ties throughout the history.

For his part, Sherif Gad said that the Russian Khokhlom band, which has won numerous awards in Russian and international competitions, dazzled the audience from the Egyptian and Russian audiences with their musical melodies and distinguished singing performance.

It is worth mentioning that the artistic ceremony is a part of a series of cultural activities held with the aim of enhancing the Egyptian-Russian bilateral ties.
