Spanish football star Thiago Alcantara is reportedly decided to retire from football due to injuries, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, cited anonymous sources.

Romano posted: "Thiago Alcantara has decided to retire from professional football. [The] former Barca, Bayern, Liverpool and Spain player has made his decision."

"Thiago’s passion and love for the game continues as he’s ready for new chapter in football after few months planning for it," the reporter added.

Alcantara started his career at the Flamengo academy and he joined Barcelona. Pep Guardiola pushed Thiago for his first team debut in May 2009. He spent four seasons with the Spanish, before re-directing his path to Bayern Munich where he become a club legend.

After that he moved to Liverpool where he sustained several injuries across his four seasons with the Reds.

After the end of the 2023/2024 season, Liverpool announced the departure of Alcantara.
