One of the funniest videos about marriage relationship and the differences between men and women brains was one titled the “The Nothing Box “by Mark Gungor.
Mark is a comedian and marriage counselor, also one of the most requested speakers for the public due to his witty, hilarious and logical way in putting things together.
Mark explains the women brain vs. the men brain, he says that men brain is all about boxes next to each other, where there is a box for everything, and those boxes are stand alone and they are not connected. So, for example quoting Mark’s exact words: we have a box for everything. We have a box for the car. We have a box for the money. We have a box for the job, a box for the kids, a box for you, a box for your mother…somewhere in the basement – and the rule is that all those boxes do not touch.
So , when going through any discussion with a guy regarding a specific thing, he goes to its named box, he pulls it out , then opens the box , and he discusses ONLY the content of that box ,then when the discussion is done, he puts the box back in its place insuring it does not touch nor disturb the other boxes next to it .
Going to women brain – that one is far but boxes next to each other, in fact they are made of wires, a big ball of wires where everything is connected to everything. So, for example the money topic is connected to the job topic, the job topic is connected to the time topic, the time topic is connected to the kids topic, the kids topic is connected to the schools and working hours topic and the working hours topic is connected to the weekends and planning them topic…and the list can go on and on.
As you see those are all lines of things which all are tied up together in logical sequence and they also often have some emotions along with them. And that’s why women remember the relationships and links between things while men never do.
Going back to men’s brain, it has one unique box which women are not aware of and they often tend to disapprove of it even after they know it exists. This box has nothing in it – and it’s called the "nothing box.”. Strange enough, it’s the most preferred to our fellow men. A man can be just sitting in his nothing box for as long as he can, it’s never boring to them, they never feel its time to leave that box – actually they need to be dragged and pulled out of it, sometimes it takes a fight .
Let’s look at daily examples where a man sits in his nothing box and functions with zero brain activity, those are the situation where a man sits in front of the TV with the remote control in his hand flipping channels endlessly – his wife would usually jump up and shout about it while he looks at her with complete amusement, or the moments where the man goes fishing and can stay by the sea for hours in the same posture just doing the routine moves until he catches a fish – if he ever catches one of course.
So bottom line – while men have the ability of thinking about absolutely nothing, women are just not designed like that, their wires are always connected, and they never disconnect unless they sleep and completely shut down.
When Mark shared this very interesting theory in his very funny way, I must say it did blend a lot with the many observations I have seen and complaints I heard from my women friends about their partners and even those I see on TV shows and movies.
No wonder men seem to enjoy life more and in some cases they also live longer, hence, I am calling out all the women to join forces and to accept the nothing box and maybe one day we – women - can reach a stage where we too have a similar thing , maybe something with boxes connected together with wires
