Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, opened the activities of the “Palestinian Culture and Heritage Day” at the 55th Cairo International Book Fair, which is organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, in support of the Palestinian cause, and in demonstration of the Egyptian role and historical positions regarding resolving the issue.
The day began with the opening of the “Palestine in the Eyes of the Children of Egypt” exhibition, storytelling workshops on the Palestinian issue, and a drawing of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the Children’s Hall, organized by the National Center for Children’s Culture. This was followed by a performance by the Palestinian “Sunflowers” band, which sang a number of Palestinian heritage songs. Amidst the encouragement of exhibition goers.
Al-Kilani praised the day's various activities, most notably the Palestinian "Sunflower" Choir's performance, and the artistic works that reflected new generations' awareness of the issue.
She said: We were keen for Palestine Day to begin from the children’s pavilion, to confirm that the issue is present and will remain a major focus of Egyptian solidarity, stressing the Ministry of Culture’s keenness to organize such forums, to discuss the Palestinian issue, in revitalization and solidarity with it.
