Today, the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) held a master class for famous French director and actor Mathieu Kassovitz, as part of the activities of its 44th session, and it was moderated by director Amir Ramses.

The master class, which was held at the Fountain Theater a short time ago, was attended by many stars and filmmakers, including Lebanese actress Cynthia Khalifeh, Sedky Sakhr, Amr Saleh, and many directors and directors of photography.

Kassovitz expressed his great happiness at being present at the CIFF, which is the oldest festival in the Arab world and Africa.

He said he prefers directing to acting, despite his cooperation with many of his famous friends, but he feels very comfortable directing more than acting, advising the directors that they do not try to present a work without the availability of the capabilities that help him to do so, so if the steps he took are Wrong from the start, he will not reach the success he wants.

According to Kassovitz, a successful director is present all the time on the filming site, and has flexibility in work, in addition to the availability of a successful and complete team, starting from the script, then the producer, then the protagonists.

On her part, Khalifeh, asked Kassovitz a question about her entry into the world of directing for the first time and her transformation from an actress to a director, to which he replied, saying that the subject is not as difficult as everyone expects, but the actor can present many works in one year, unlike the director who has only one work available to him.

The French director also touched on modern technologies in cinema, noting that the past recent years the situation is completely different from the nineties, such as jumps by plane and others that the director cannot do without the use of modern technologies, and it is difficult to have live scenes at work all the time, as it is very dangerous for the movie cast.

Kassovitz also stressed the importance of the script of the work, which depends on the writer, and they must be aware of the end of the first scene of the work, and what is the focus of the film, and the reason that prompted them to write that story.

Kassovitz’s list of directorial works includes unmissable films, " La Haine", comes at the top, " The Crimson Rivers" (2000), " Gothika" (2003), " Babylon A.D." (2008), "Rebellion" (2011). He also acted in Steven Spielberg's major films "Munich" (2005) and Michael Haneke's "Happy End" (2017), and starred in the hit TV series "The Bureau."
