Ahmed Mahina, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity confirmed that the ministry had received an offer from the international company "Tesla" to supply energy storage batteries to Egypt.
Mahina said, on the sidelines of a renewable energy symposium, that the Ministry of Electricity is still studying the details of the offer, explaining that these batteries are capable of storing capacities of up to 100 megawatts.
He pointed out that relying on these batteries will increase the percentage of dependence on renewable energy projects in Egypt during the coming period, based on the targeted storage of the capacities that will be generated.
He pointed out that Tesla officials stressed that the battery life will reach about 20 years, which is comparable to the life of the renewable energy plant, which ranges between 20 and 25 years.
