Syria has denied reports that it plans to hand over Uyghur fighters to China, reaffirming its commitment to security and counterterrorism during Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani’s historic visit to Beijing.

Al-Shaibani met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and Syria’s reconstruction. He highlighted Syria’s respect for China’s security concerns, opposition to terrorism, and adherence to the “One China” principle.

The talks focused on Syria's benefits from China’s development experience, participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, and exploration of joint reconstruction projects. Both sides issued a joint statement committing to enhancing security coordination, counterterrorism efforts, and economic collaboration while improving living conditions in Syria.

Wang Yi praised the long-standing ties between the countries and confirmed China’s readiness to support Syria’s reconstruction, development, and peace efforts under Syrian leadership.
