Mohamed Saadallah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Alexandria, denied the news circulating about the change in the system of disbursing bread on the ration card.
He said: "Nothing happened. The citizen's share is fixed at five loaves for each person in the card, and what was said is baseless."
Saadallah added that all that happened was that some citizens spent one, two or three days’ quota to store it, instead of going to the bakeries on a daily basis to spend the prescribed daily quota. "It is natural that when a citizen spends one day a share of two or three days at once, he will not go to spend his share until the fourth day."
