The Sudanese Armed Forces have made significant battlefield gains in North and South Kordofan states amid continued fighting and renewed calls for political dialogue and peace.
Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued clear messages to political forces, urging all parties to engage in dialogue and pursue peace. He praised political groups aligned with the army and reassured the Sudanese public that the military would prevail in the ongoing confrontations.
On the ground, military developments in North and South Kordofan have shown notable progress, with the army regaining control of several strategic areas. These include Kazgeil, south of El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, as well as Al-Riyash, Al-Hamadi, and areas of Al-Debibat in South Kordofan.
Fighting remains intense between the Sudanese army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, which is allied with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Despite fierce clashes, the army has advanced in several locations and imposed a tight siege on the cities of Dilling and Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, both of which are home to large civilian populations.
Meanwhile, displacement has increased from areas surrounding Dilling and Kadugli due to shelling and attacks affecting civilians, as military operations continue between the Sudanese army, the RSF, and allied armed groups.
The situation in Kordofan remains volatile, with ongoing hostilities raising humanitarian concerns, while calls for dialogue continue as a potential path toward ending the conflict.
