On its part, Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "We will take the necessary measures to protect our borders if Sudan does not stop its illegal activities," adding, "our forces are on high alert on Ethiopia's borders with Sudan."

Moreover, the ministry added that Sudan exploited the conflict in Tigray to ignite a border crisis.
