Sudan Announces First Pharmaceutical City

Northern State Governor, Abidin Awadallah, announced that the state government has established a city dedicated to pharmaceutical industries.

During his address at the opening session of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Forum, Awadallah reaffirmed the government's ongoing efforts to overcome challenges in the industrial sector, particularly the electricity issue.

Awadallah revealed that the state has initiated communications to resume the electrical linkage project with Egypt, which will provide 300 megawatts to the state.

He added that the industrial map distribution will encompass all regions.

Awadallah called for a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health to establish a water purification station in the northern region.

Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim emphasized the ministry's continued efforts to achieve pharmaceutical security, highlighting the crucial role played by the private sector in this field.

State Minister of Health Dr. Sati Hassan Sati noted that the forum marks a significant turning point in localizing pharmaceutical manufacturing within the state.

State Investment Minister Omar Ali Saleh announced the allocation of 100,000 square meters in the Andalus Industrial City in Dongola as a first phase, aimed at localizing pharmaceutical industries in the northern region.

Secretary-General of the National Medicines and Poisons Board, Dr. Ali Babiker Al-Amin, stated that pharmaceutical industries contribute to achieving self-sufficiency in medicines and provide surplus foreign currency for the state treasury.

Additionally, General Director of Pharmacy Administration Dr. Najmuddin Mohammed Majzoub disclosed that the Rapid Support Forces destroyed 26 pharmaceutical factories.

He mentioned that the Ministry of Health has prepared an investment map for the pharmaceutical industries in Sudan.
