In Egypt: you can still be studying in Canada

Canada University in Egypt, the first foreign institution in the New Administrative Capital, is set ti  start its academic semester next September.

The university announced that it will kick off with two programs: Engineering and Business Administration. Next year, it will add two more programs: Climate changes and science.

Graduates will be awarded certificates issued from Canada and will be approved by Supreme Council for universities.

It explained as well that students will have to sign up at the site if the original university in Canada to submit their application in order to enroll at its branch in Egypt, the required papers as well as paying the fees. Then, the papers will be evaluated in order to choose the prospective  students.

Debby Mc Lain, president of Canada University, said "I am very happy that we are inaugurating the first Canadian university in the Administrative Capital and I welcome all new students who will start their first semester next September."

Mc Lain said in her statement to "See" that the University is focusing on providing competitive and first-class education; excellent scientific programs that aim at developing students' skills, personality and give them opportunities to enter the labour market. The institution hopes to collaborate with experts and teaching staff to assist students.

"BA programs for the first year will be offered by Prince Edward Island University. The programs will include: Engineering, Sciences, Environment and Climate changes Business Administration and Entrepreneurship," Mc Lain explained.

Regarding the university's application conditions in Egypt, Mc Lain said that students will enroll on the main site of the original university in Canada, followed by submitting the required papers to enter the university's branch. When the conditions are fulfilled, then they can join the institution, stressing that they have to pass the English language test and requirement.

McLain said they plan to establish 4 Canadian universities in Egypt within the next years, adding that they will offer several scholarships to outstanding students.

On the other hand, Dr. Mohamed Emara, deputy dean of Engineering faculty in Canada University in Egypt, remarked that studies will depend on electronic curricula and less on the mainstream curricula.

"The university will build 7 buildings and so far 2 buildings have been erected" Emara explained. "Students in Canada University in Cairo can interact via video conferencing with their colleagues in the original university; modern electronic cameras and screens will be installed in classrooms to communicate with their colleagues in other classes or other branches of Canada University."
